Delhi beats Norwich 4-3 after comeback scare

The Norwich Merchants tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Delhi Travellers held on for a 4-3 victory.

Delhi took a 4-2 lead during the third period, only to have Norwich storm back on a Jamie Kelly goal 13:14 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Travellers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Delhi forced the Merchants goalie Lukas Samson to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

The Travellers were led by Mitchell Graham, who registered two goals. Graham scored the first of his two goals at 18:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Delhi. Mitch Smythe assisted on the tally. Graham's next tally made the score 2-1 Delhi with 4:21 left in the second period. Smythe picked up the assist. Delhi also got points from Smythe, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Delhi also got a goal from Greg Tucci as well. In addition, Delhi received assists from Jordan Betzold, Matt Jakubowski, Nevin Guenther, Marcus Gregory, and Joe Shaw, who each chipped in one.

Norwich's offense rang up 43 shots on Delhi's net.

Derek Slaght also scored for Norwich. Other players who recorded assists for Norwich were Zack Morrison, Michael Young, and Troy Lamoure, who contributed one each.

The Travellers' Kodie Oude stopped 40 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Delhi incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Samson rejected 29 shots on goal for the Merchants. Norwich incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
