Burford falls to Delhi in overtime, 5-4 (OT)Delhi Community Centre Fri, Oct 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Joe Shaw gave the Delhi Travellers a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Burford Bulldogs when he scored 4:02 into the extra period. Delhi overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Travellers fell behind 4-2 after a short handed goal by Burford's Tyler Hinde at 14:50 in the second period. Delhi tied things up at 4-4 on a goal by Nevin Guenther at 15:40 in the third period. Kelsey Van Ymeren had one goal and two assists to lead the Travellers. Van Ymeren scored on the power play 18:36 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Delhi had gotten the advantage when the Bulldogs' Kurtis Christo was sent off for slashing. Quin Kramer picked up the assist. The Travellers forced Bulldogs' goalies to work all game long, firing 38 shots and forcing 33 saves. Riley Edwards made 10 stops and Jack Stockdale made 23. Delhi was effective with a man advantage, and put in three goals while on the power play. Delhi also got points from Rhett Roney, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Delhi also got a goal from Jordan Betzold as well. More assists for Delhi came via Mitch Smythe, who had two and Teran Cloet and Greg Tucci, who contributed one each. The Travellers were unable to stop Burford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bulldogs eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Mitch Randell also scored for Burford. In addition, Burford received assists from Jesse Brooks, who had one and Mitch Rowse and Blaise Burtnick, who contributed two each. Mike Harrison rejected 34 shots on goal for Delhi. The Travellers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Burford totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. The Bulldogs ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Nolan Ferris was ejected from the game.
