Paris rips Tavistock, 5-1

The Tavistock Braves had trouble finding ways to stop the Paris Mounties, which beat Braves, 5-1.

Brady Wheelans was all over the ice for Paris, as he tallied two goals and two assists in the win. Wheelans scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 13:40 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Paris. The Mounties had taken the advantage when Tavistock's Josh Borys got sent off for slashing. Ryan Stephenson picked up the assist. Wheelans' next tally on the power play made the score 4-0 Paris with 14:38 left in the second period. Austin Sine assisted on the tally.

Paris was led by goalie Zach Shomphe, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. Shomphe certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.04 entering the contest.

The Mounties were often in penalty trouble, totaling 13 minors and one major for 51 minutes in penalty time. Paris surpassed its season average of 24.0 penalty minutes per game. The Mounties put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Braves to score on any of their 11 power plays. Tavistock was unable to stop Paris from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mounties eventually piled up 41 shots on goal.

Paris also got points from Keegan Alvestad, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Paris also got a goal from Cole Corriveau as well. In addition, Paris received assists from Tyler Arsenault, Nick Mercier, and Joshua Schafer, who each chipped in one.

The Braves racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. Tavistock had been averaging 35.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Braves did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Tavistock puts an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. The Braves' offense rang up 31 shots on Paris' net.

The Mounties registered two goals on six power play opportunities. Paris ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Tysen Willemsen was ejected from the game. Ben Larder made 36 saves for Tavistock on 41 shots. Team's Jake Wiffen and Kieran Van Boekel were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
