New Hamburg rips Ayr, 4-1

The Ayr Centennials had trouble finding ways to stop the New Hamburg Firebirds, which beat Centennials, 4-1.

New Hamburg was led by goalie Ryan Purcell, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. Purcell managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.88 prior to the game.

The Firebirds were led by Andrew Boer, who registered one goal. Boer scored 5:08 into the second period to make the score 2-1 New Hamburg. Jerry Ennett picked up the assist.

New Hamburg also got points from Ennett, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. New Hamburg also had goals scored by Tyler Randerson and Mario Alyas, who each put in one. In addition, New Hamburg received assists from Walker Davison, who had two and Ethan Adair, Colin Martin, David Jennings, and Chris Eckert, who contributed one each.

Ayr excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Centennials did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Ayr puts an average of 5.4 pucks into the net per game. New Hamburg was unable to stop the Centennials from sending pucks towards the net, and Ayr eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

The Centennials were led by Riley Clipper, who scored the team's only goal. Clipper scored 2:07 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Carver Ormiston provided the assist.

The Firebirds incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Hayden Padalino took the loss and made 18 saves before being replaced by Ryan Hergott who made seven saves. Ayr incurred 38 minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Centennials, Connor MacLean and Sean Mitchell were ejected from the contest.
