The Woodstock Navy Vets and the Norwich Merchants skate to 3-3 (OT) tieWoodstock Community Center Sat, Oct 10, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Norwich found itself down againt Woodstock, but battled back to secure to a tie. The Merchants were unable to stop the Navy Vets from sending pucks towards the net, and Woodstock eventually piled up 32 shots on goal. The Navy Vets were helped by Max Racicot, who registered one goal. Racicot scored 10:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Woodstock. Chris Nauts provided the assist. Woodstock also had goals scored by Jack Taylor and Dylan Wettlaufer, who each put in one. In addition, Woodstock received assists from Cam Leslie and Jake Schneider, who each chipped in one. Norwich put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Woodstock to score on any of its four power plays. The Merchants' offense rang up 32 shots on the Navy Vets' net. Norwich was led by Zack Morrison, who finished with two goals and one assist. Morrison scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 7:42 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Woodstock. A hooking penalty on Spencer Beer had put the Merchants on the power play. Riley Monture picked up the assist. Morrison's next tally on the power play made the score 3-2 Woodstock with 1:06 left in the second period. Norwich earned a power play opportunity when Beer was put in the box for checking from behind. Matt Dipaolo assisted on the tally. Norwich also got points from Jamie Kelly, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Norwich were Troy Lamoure, who had one. Jackson Swindells recorded 29 saves for Woodstock. The Navy Vets incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Team's Braden Hutchison and Beer were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. The Merchants' Andrew Hawkins stopped 29 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Norwich incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
