Tavistock outlasts Burford, 4-2

The Tavistock Braves gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Burford Bulldogs.

Tavistock gained the winning advantage on a goal by Jacob Rooke 11:33 into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Rooke had a great game for the Braves, netting two goals.

Tavistock put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Burford to score on any of its five power plays. The Braves were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 28 penalty minutes.

Tavistock additionally got points from Jamie Shoemaker, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Tavistock also got a goal from Kieran Van Boekel as well.

The Bulldogs excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Burford could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Bulldogs were led by Mitch Randell, who registered one goal and one assist. Randell scored 15:56 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Tavistock. Blaise Burtnick picked up the assist. Jesse Brooks also scored for Burford. Other players who recorded assists for Burford were Matt Zilke and Tyler Hinde, who contributed one each.

Ben Larder took the win and made 15 saves before being replaced by Horia Lucaciu who made four saves. Riley Edwards made 21 saves for Burford on 25 shots.
