Wellesley rips Delhi, 6-2

The Delhi Travellers had trouble finding ways to stop the Wellesley Applejacks, which beat Travellers, 6-2.

Garrett Schultz had two goals and one assist to lead Wellesley. Schultz scored the first of his two goals at 14:26 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jayden Hipel picked up the assist. Schultz's next tally made the score 5-2 Wellesley with 8:21 left in the third period. Braidon Kerbs provided the assist.

The Applejacks' penalty kill excelled, as Wellesley gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

The Applejacks kept Delhi's goalie busy throughout the game, and Kodie Oude made 34 saves on 40 shots. Wellesley bested its season scoring average. This season, the Applejacks average 3.6 goals per contest.

Wellesley also got points from Cal Jefferies, who also had one goal and one assist. Nicholas Breault also scored for Wellesley. In addition, Wellesley received assists from Brenden Goran, Sean McEwan, David Elford, and Noah Leis, who each chipped in one.

The Travellers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Wellesley power plays.

Delhi was helped by Brandon Szymesko, who registered one goal. Szymesko scored 4:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Delhi. Quinn Gaetz assisted on the tally. Delhi also got a goal from Nevin Guenther as well. Other players who recorded assists for Delhi were Rhett Roney, Joe Shaw, and Greg Tucci, who contributed one each.

Wellesley's Leis stopped 19 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Applejacks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Travellers incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
