Woodstock erases deficit to stun Burford, 3-2

Undaunted by a two-goal deficit, the Woodstock Navy Vets battled back to claim a 3-2 victory over the Burford Bulldogs.

Woodstock never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Navy Vets trailed 2-0 after a goal by Burford's Mitch Rowse at 3:13 in the third period. Woodstock knotted things up at 2-2 on a goal by Chris Thompson at 17:17 in the third period. The Navy Vets got the game winner at 19:59 in the third period on a goal by Thompson.

Thompson had a great game for Woodstock, netting two goals.

The Navy Vets put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bulldogs to score on any of their three power plays. Woodstock's offense rang up 43 shots on Burford's net.

Woodstock also got a goal from Gray Sinden as well. More assists for Woodstock came via Jack Taylor, Braden Hutchison, Justin Elms, and Dan Haig, who each chipped in one.

The Bulldogs were helped by Mitch Randell, who had one goal. Randell scored 8:19 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Burford. Nolan Ferris picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Burford were Jesse Brooks, who had one.

North Davies made 24 saves for the Navy Vets on 26 shots. Woodstock incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Burford's Riley Edwards stopped 40 shots out of the 43 that he faced. The Bulldogs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
