Paris stifles New Hamburg's comeback, gains 4-3 victory

The Paris Mounties, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the New Hamburg Firebirds and clinched a 4-3 victory.

Paris led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Mounties' Brady Wheelans scored on the power play at 1:40 in the second period to put Paris up 3-0.

Cole Corriveau had a great game for the Mounties, netting two goals. Corriveau scored at 15:42 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Paris and again while 19:03 into the third to make the score 4-2 Paris.

Paris' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four New Hamburg power plays. The Mounties' offense rang up 42 shots on New Hamburg's net.

Paris also got a goal from Griffin Heitshu as well. Other players who recorded assists for Paris were Keegan Alvestad and Tyler Arsenault, who contributed one each.

Paris was unable to stop the Firebirds from sending pucks towards the net, and New Hamburg eventually piled up 50 shots on goal.

The Firebirds were helped by Jerry Ennett, who racked up two goals. Ennett scored the first of his two goals at 10:29 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Paris. Colin Martin picked up the assist. Ennett's next tally made the score 4-3 Paris with 49 seconds left in the third period. Walker Davison assisted on the tally. New Hamburg also got points from Martin, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for New Hamburg came via Andrew Boer and Tyler Hoffman, who each chipped in one.

Zach Shomphe recorded 47 saves for the Mounties. Paris incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. New Hamburg's Tanner Topham stopped 38 shots out of the 41 that he faced. The Firebirds incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
