Lucaciu leads Tavistock to shutout victory over NorwichNorwich Community Center Fri, Oct 02, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Horia Lucaciu was superb between the pipes for the Tavistock Braves, as he did not allow a goal in a 6-0 victory over the Norwich Merchants. Tavistock was led by Jordan Ritsma, who racked up one goal. Ritsma scored on the power play 6:24 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Tavistock. The Braves had gotten the advantage when Norwich's Jordan Everets was sent off for hooking. Shaun Pickering provided the assist. Tavistock excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Braves' defensive play was more effective than usual against the Merchants. Tavistock gives up 2.6 goals on average per game. The Braves surpassed their usual scoring output this season. This season, Tavistock averages 3.3 goals per contest. Tavistock also got points from Pickering, who also had two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Angus Rowland, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Tavistock also got a goal from Maverick Petrie as well. Other players who recorded assists for Tavistock were Jamie Shoemaker, Kieran Van Boekel, and Brett Coverdale, who contributed one each and Jake Wiffen and Kevan Hadad, who each chipped in two. Norwich could not produce up to its normal offensive output. The Merchants average 2.7 goals per game. Lucaciu rejected 28 shots on goal for the Braves. Tavistock incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Andrew Hawkins made 24 saves for Norwich on 30 shots. The Merchants incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
