Wellesley outlasts Delhi, 5-3

The game between the Wellesley Applejacks and the Delhi Travellers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Wellesley emerged with a 5-3 win.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Joe Heath secured the win for the Applejacks with a goal in the third period.

Heath had two goals to lead Wellesley to victory.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 18:10 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Applejacks' offense rang up 37 shots on Delhi's net.

Wellesley also got points from Sean McEwan, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, David Elford, who also had one goal and one assist, and Garrett Schultz, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Cal Jefferies, who had two and Brenden Goran and Greg Huber, who each chipped in one.

The Travellers were helped by Jared Ebdon, who tallied one goal. Ebdon scored 2:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Delhi. Colin Vandaele picked up the assist. Delhi also had goals scored by Nick Love and Nevin Guenther, who scored one goal each. In addition, Delhi received assists from Jordan Betzold, Quin Kramer, Mitchell Graham, and Nathan Stackhouse, who contributed one each.

Ryan Porter recorded 27 saves for Wellesley. The Applejacks totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. For Wellesley, Goran was ejected from the game. Delhi's Mike Harrison stopped 32 shots out of the 36 that he faced. The Travellers totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Delhi ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Joe Shaw was ejected from the game.
