Norwich falls to Wellesley in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Wellesley Applejacks' Greg Huber scored 2:29 into overtime to beat the Norwich Merchants, 4-3 (OT).

In a losing effort, Norwich was led by Zack Morrison, who racked up two goals and one assist. Morrison scored the first of his two goals at 1:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Norwich. Riley Monture picked up the assist. Morrison's next tally made the score 2-1 Norwich with 4:20 left in the first period. A kneeing penalty on Justin Lebold had put the Merchants on the power play. Derek Slaght assisted on the tally.

Wellesley was sparked by Huber, who tallied one goal.

The Applejacks had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just one goal on 11 chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Wellesley's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Applejacks finished with 48 penalty minutes.

Others who scored for Wellesley included Scott Martin, Sean McEwan, and Garrett Schultz, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Wellesley were Brenden Goran, Joe Heath, Brady Gerber, Tyson Bender, Matthew Lantz, and Nicholas Breault, who each chipped in one.

Troy Lamoure also scored for Norwich. In addition, Norwich received assists from Brandon Velda, who had one.

Noah Leis made 23 saves for Wellesley on 26 shots. Norwich's Lukas Samson stopped 26 shots out of the 30 that he faced. The Merchants incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
