Smith nets hat trick, leads Paris to 8-2 win over Delhi

Brodie Smith netted a hat trick to lead the Paris Mounties over the Delhi Travellers, 8-2.

Smith notched his first tally 1:11 into the second period. He then added goals at 4:38 into the second and at 11:47 into the second.

Paris led by only one goal at the end of the first period, but put the game away by scoring four goals in the second.

Delhi fell victim to a deadly the Mounties power play, which ripped the Travellers for four goals.

Paris forced Travellers' goalies to work between the pipes, racking up 41 shots and forcing 33 saves. Mike Harrison made 25 stops and Kodie Oude made eight. The Mounties stifled Delhi's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Paris outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Mounties average 4.3 goals per contest. Paris' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Paris additionally got points from Keegan Alvestad, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Tyler Arsenault, who also grabbed two goals and one assist, and Garrett Kirby, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mikael Ruffini also scored for Paris. In addition, Paris received assists from Griffin Heitshu, who had two and Mitchell Harvey, Richard Brooks, Nick Mercier, and Nick Palmer, who contributed one each.

The Travellers were helped by Nick Love, who grabbed one goal. Love scored 10:07 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nevin Guenther provided the assist. Delhi also got points from Guenther, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Delhi were Marcus Gregory, who had one.

Zach Shomphe made 14 saves for the Mounties on 16 shots. Paris incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Delhi incurred 32 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
