GAME RECAP

Tavistock holds on for 4-3 win against Delhi

Delhi Community Centre    Fri, Sep 11, 2015

The Delhi Travellers tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Tavistock Braves would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

A goal by Jordan Ritsma put Tavistock up 4-2 in the third period, but Delhi pulled to within one on Quinn Gaetz's tally 8:21 into the third period.

Ritsma had a great game for the Braves, netting two goals.

Tavistock put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Travellers to score on any of their four power plays. Delhi was unable to stop the Braves from sending pucks towards the net, and Tavistock eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Others who scored for Tavistock included Mackenzie Sealy and Jake Wiffen, who each put in one. More assists for Tavistock came via Shaun Pickering, who had three and Jamie Shoemaker, Tyson Zehr, Maverick Petrie, and Jacob Rooke, who contributed one each.

The Travellers kept the Braves' goalie busy throughout the game, and Horia Lucaciu made 31 saves on 34 shots. Delhi's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Tavistock's power play unit.

The Travellers were helped by Nathan Stackhouse, who tallied one goal. Stackhouse scored 3:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Delhi. Jordan Betzold picked up the assist. Delhi also got points from Nevin Guenther, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Delhi received assists from Quin Kramer and Dylan Wales, who each chipped in one.

The Braves incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Mike Harrison made 29 saves for Delhi on 33 shots. The Travellers incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
