Midland rides Bester to victory over Alliston, 3-1

Tim Bester stood on his head and made 32 saves to lead the Midland Flyers to a 3-1 victory over the Alliston Hornets.

Midland pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

The Flyers were led by Tully Jackson, who had one goal. Jackson scored short handed 11:14 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Midland. Midland found itself down a man on Jared Aube's kneeing. Evan Buehler assisted on the tally.

The Flyers forced Alliston goalie Tyler Brindle to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. Midland's power play unit failed to produce, and was held to zero goals on nine chances.

Midland additionally got points from Buehler, who also registered one goal and one assist. Midland also got a goal from Matt Hudgin as well. In addition, Midland received assists from Jason Stone, Steven Pickard, Corey DeRose, and Matt Schieck, who each chipped in one.

The Hornets stifled the Flyers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Alliston's offense operated below its season average. The Hornets put an average of 5.0 pucks into the net per game. Midland was unable to stop Alliston from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hornets eventually piled up 33 shots on goal. Alliston could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Hornets were led by Joe Cochrane, who scored the team's only goal. Cochrane scored on the power play 4:27 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Alliston had gotten the advantage when the Flyers' Jackson was sent off for interference. Darius Kondrotas provided the assist.

The Hornets' Brindle stopped 35 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Alliston registered one goal on six power play opportunities.
