Alvinston downs Dresden in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Alvinston Flyers' Kirklin Dorman scored 1:03 into overtime to beat the Dresden Kings, 3-2 (OT).

Karsten Berg had a great game for Alvinston, netting two goals. Berg found the back of the net 2:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alvinston and again while 5:54 into the second to make the score 2-2.

The Flyers kept Dresden's goalie busy throughout the game, and Travis Moore made 43 saves on 46 shots.

Alvinston additionally got points from Dorman, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Alvinston received assists from Hunter Bryce and Carter Campbell, who contributed one each.

The Kings put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Alvinston to score on any of its three power plays. Dresden forced the Flyers goalie Cam MacAlpine to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.

The Kings were helped by Derrick VanEvery, who had one goal. VanEvery scored on the power play 7:07 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Dresden had gotten the advantage when Alvinston's Tyler Clark was sent off for high sticking. Dresden also got a goal from John Montgomery as well. Other players who recorded assists for Dresden were Ben Nicholls and Steven Funk, who each chipped in one.

Cam MacAlpine made 32 saves for the Flyers on 34 shots. Alvinston incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Kings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
