Huge game by Ritzer boosts Dresden over Mooretown, 7-4

Kevin Ritzer was all over the ice for the Dresden Kings, as he tallied two goals and two assists in Dresden's 7-4 win over the Mooretown Flags.

Ritzer's tallies came at 14:46 into the second period to make the score 3-3 and on the power play 10 seconds into the third to make the score 5-3 Dresden.

The Kings forced Mooretown's goalies to work between the pipes, racking up 34 shots and forcing 27 saves. Brandon Johnson made 27 stops and Nolan Hakr made zero. Dresden excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Kings outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Dresden averages 3.9 goals per contest.

Dresden also got points from Dillon Liberty, who also finished with two goals and two assists and Derrick VanEvery, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Dresden included Will Tetzlaff and Isaac McLean, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dresden received assists from Derek Shaw, who had two and Logan Purbrick, Brady Hogg, and Kyle Dawson, who contributed one each.

The Flags kept the Kings' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joel Sowinski made 28 saves on 32 shots. Mooretown struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 28 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

The Flags were helped by Alec Segers, who tallied one goal and two assists. Segers scored 17:11 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mooretown. Nolan Riley picked up the assist. Mooretown additionally got points from Riley, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Ben Morrison, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Matt Brandon also scored for Mooretown. More assists for Mooretown came via Colin Osler and Jeff Brown, who each chipped in one.

Dresden incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
