Behind a great game by Brayden Hopkins, who had two goals, the Blenheim Blades defeated the Wallaceburg Lakers, 4-1. Hopkins' tallies came on the power play at 9:38 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Blenheim and on the power play 15:16 into the second to make the score 3-0 Blenheim.Wallaceburg's power play was ineffective against Blenheim's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. The Blades stifled the Lakers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Blenheim's offense rang up 47 shots on Wallaceburg's net. Blenheim also got points from Drew Marlatt, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Blenheim also got a goal from Matt Clark as well. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Lucas Hickey, George Wood, Kirk McKillop, Brayden Seliga, Brendan Ritchie, Dylan Hathaway, and Nick Delyzer, who each chipped in one. Eric Stewardson made 17 saves for the Blades on 18 shots. Blenheim incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. George Hill rejected 43 shots on goal for the Lakers. Wallaceburg incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. |
