Meyerink stymies Lakeshore, Amherstburg wins 3-1

The Amherstburg Integrity Admirals relied on the sparkling performance of Connor Meyerink in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Lakeshore Canadiens.

Amherstburg was led by Marshal Laing, who tallied one goal. Laing scored 7:09 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Amherstburg. Mitchell Holden picked up the assist.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 13:22 into the first period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

The Integrity Admirals forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 17.0 minutes per game Amherstburg had been spending in the box. The Integrity Admirals' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Lakeshore power plays.

Amherstburg also had goals scored by Curtis Prymack and Jordan Luciw, who scored one goal each. More assists for Amherstburg came via Lucas Bersuk, who had two and Blaine Bechard, Ryan Holzel, and Kasey Basile, who contributed one each.

Lakeshore was often in penalty trouble, totaling six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Canadiens surpassed its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Lakeshore excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Canadiens were held below their usual level of production. Lakeshore puts an average of 4.1 pucks into the net per game. The Canadiens kept Amherstburg's goalie busy throughout the game, and Meyerink made 37 saves on 38 shots.

Lakeshore was led by Colin Sartor, who scored the team's only goal. Sartor scored 10:40 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Jarrett Tazzman assisted on the tally.

The Integrity Admirals ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Alexander was ejected from the game. Brendan Shuck rejected 26 shots on goal for the Canadiens. For Lakeshore, Logan Percy was ejected from the game.
