Amherstburg outlasts Mooretown, 3-2Mooretown Rink 1 Sat, Jan 16, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Amherstburg Integrity Admirals gutted out a close 3-2 win against the Mooretown Flags. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Caleb Paquette's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Mooretown's power play was ineffective against Amherstburg's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Integrity Admirals were sparked by Paquette, who tallied one goal. Paquette scored 14:24 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Amherstburg. Ryan Wismer provided the assist. Amherstburg was shut out on the power play, going scoring scoreless on nine chances with a man advantage. The Integrity Admirals struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 44 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays. Others who scored for Amherstburg included Broden Meloche and Travis Campbell, who scored one goal each. In addition, Amherstburg received assists from Blaine Bechard, Jordan Luciw, Ryan Holzel, Dylan Muzzatti, and Austin Jennings, who contributed one each. The Flags stifled Amherstburg's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Mooretown forced the Integrity Admirals goalie Connor Meyerink to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. The Flags could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Mooretown was helped by Ben Morrison, who grabbed one goal. Morrison scored on the power play 16:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Flags had gotten the advantage when Amherstburg's Jennings was sent off for tripping. Joe DeSena picked up the assist. Alec Segers also scored for Mooretown. Other players who recorded assists for Mooretown were Ryan Lyle, Kyle Smith, and Colin Osler, who each chipped in one. The Integrity Admirals' Meyerink stopped 31 shots out of the 33 that he faced. Brandon Johnson made 25 saves for Mooretown on 28 shots. Team's Lyle and Colton Osborne were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
