Lakeshore downs Mooretown in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

The Lakeshore Canadiens pulled out a 4-3 (OT) overtime victory over the Mooretown Flags on a clutch goal by Michael Long.

Lakeshore's penalty kill excelled, as the Canadiens gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

Lakeshore was led by Long, who registered one goal. Long scored 13 seconds into overtime to make the score 4-3 Lakeshore.

The Canadiens stifled Mooretown's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Lakeshore kept the Flags' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 31 saves on 35 shots. The Canadiens' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Others who scored for Lakeshore included Colin Sartor, Hunter Corp, and Zack Bedard, who scored one goal each. In addition, Lakeshore received assists from Mejoe Gasparovic, who had two and Joe Binder, Cameron MacDougall, Blake Rutckyj, and Sebastian Kanally, who contributed one each.

Mooretown forced Lakeshore's goalies to work all game long, totaling 36 shots and forcing 33 saves. Nick Seguin APM made 12 stops and Tyler Ryan made 21. The Flags excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

Mooretown was helped by Colton Osborne, who tallied one goal. Osborne scored 18:18 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Lakeshore. Mike Kindrachuk picked up the assist. Mooretown also had goals scored by Cameron Rannie and Jakob Reeves, who each put in one. More assists for Mooretown came via Parker Gilhuly, Joe DeSena, and Trevor Bogaert, who each chipped in one.

The Canadiens incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. The Flags incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
