Alvinston rips Dresden, 6-2Ken Houston Memorial Arena Fri, Jan 08, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Alvinston Flyers had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Dresden Kings. Alvinston excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Flyers' offense rang up 43 shots on Dresden's net. Alvinston surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Flyers average 3.3 goals per game. Alvinston could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 24 minutes in penalties during the game. The Flyers were helped by Kirklin Dorman, who grabbed two goals. Dorman scored the first of his two goals at 5:11 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Alvinston. Karsten Berg picked up the assist. Dorman's next tally made the score 4-1 Alvinston with 2:39 left in the second period. Alvinston earned a power play opportunity when John Montgomery was put in the box for high sticking. Berg assisted on the tally. Alvinston also got points from Clint Rose, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Berg, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Alvinston included Jeremy VanDeven and Zach VanEyk, who scored one goal each. In addition, Alvinston received assists from Kole Keating, who had three and Hunter Bryce, Joe Stock, and Jordan Hayes, who contributed one each. The Kings kept the Flyers' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cam MacAlpine made 42 saves on 44 shots. Dresden's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Kings finished with 32 penalty minutes. Dresden was helped by Kyle Dawson, who tallied two goals. Dawson scored the first of his two goals at 9:20 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Alvinston. Derek Shaw picked up the assist. Dawson's next tally made the score 5-2 Alvinston with 14 seconds left in the second period. Isaac McLean assisted on the tally. Alvinston registered three goals on nine power play opportunities. For the Flyers, Fraser Wilson was ejected from the game. Travis Moore recorded 37 saves for the Kings. Team's Derrick VanEvery and Macks Holmes were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. |
