Mooretown wins tough contest against Alvinston, 4-2Mooretown Rink 1 Sat, Jan 02, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Mooretown Flags gutted out a close 4-2 win against the Alvinston Flyers. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Alec Segers's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Mooretown was sparked by Segers, who finished with one goal and one assist. Segers scored on the power play 15:59 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Mooretown. The Flags had taken the advantage when Alvinston's Cole Harris got sent off for tripping. Colin Osler assisted on the tally. Mooretown forced the Flyers goalie Matt Boere to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots. Mooretown also had goals scored by Parker Gilhuly, Trevor Bogaert, and Ben Morrison, who each put in one. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Mike Kindrachuk, Christian Lyle, and Kyle Smith, who each chipped in one. Alvinston was helped by Ryan Cadwell, who had one goal. Cadwell scored 5:08 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Kirklin Dorman picked up the assist. Alvinston also got a goal from Hunter Bryce as well. More assists for Alvinston came via Brady Swan, Karsten Berg, and Carter Campbell, who contributed one each. Brandon Johnson rejected 16 shots on goal for the Flags. Mooretown incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Flags ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Cameron Rannie was ejected from the game. Boere recorded 35 saves for the Flyers. Alvinston incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
