Early goals doom Blenheim, falls to Amherstburg, 10-2

The Amherstburg Integrity Admirals opened up a five-goal lead after the first period and did not look back en route to a 10-2 win over the Blenheim Blades.

Broden Meloche had two goals and three assists to lead Amherstburg. Meloche scored the first of his two goals at 16:53 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Amherstburg. Dylan Muzzatti provided the assist. Meloche's next tally made the score 4-1 Amherstburg with 1:40 left in the first period. The Integrity Admirals had gotten the advantage when Blenheim's Drew Marlatt was sent off for cross checking. Ryan Alexander picked up the assist.

Amherstburg's penalty kill excelled, as the Integrity Admirals gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Amherstburg forced the Blades' goalies to work between the pipes, totaling 36 shots and forcing 26 saves. Eric Stewardson made 25 stops and KJ Teron made one. The Integrity Admirals stifled Blenheim's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Amherstburg bested its season scoring average. The Integrity Admirals have scored at the pace of 4.3 goals per game during the current campaign.

Amherstburg additionally got points from Ryan Holzel, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Muzzatti, who also racked up two goals and two assists, Alexander, who also registered one goal and two assists, Travis Campbell, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Kasey Basile, who also had one goal and one assist. Amherstburg also had goals scored by Mitchell Holden and Luke Gangnon, who scored one goal each. More assists for Amherstburg came via Ryan Wismer, Michael Hatch, Dean Patterson, Curtis Prymack, Marshal Laing, and Chad Copeland, who each chipped in one and Blaine Bechard and Jordan Luciw, who contributed two each.

The Blades' offense operated below their season average. Blenheim puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game.

The Blades were helped by Nick Delyzer, who finished with one goal. Delyzer scored 2:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blenheim. Marlatt provided the assist. Blenheim also got points from Marlatt, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Owen Bateman and Brayden Hopkins, who each chipped in one.

Connor Meyerink recorded 26 saves for Amherstburg. The Integrity Admirals incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Blenheim incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
