Lakeshore uses early goal to top Mooretown, 4-2

The Lakeshore Canadiens took the lead against the Mooretown Flags in the first period and maintained it until the end of the game to secure a tight 4-2 victory.

Lakeshore took over the lead for good with a goal by Dylan Kolic at 8:05 in the first period. Parker Boyle assisted on the tally.

The Canadiens pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 12 penalty minutes.

Lakeshore was led by Austin Jennings, who finished with one goal. Jennings scored 2:44 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Lakeshore. Guy Levesque picked up the assist.

The Canadiens put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mooretown to score on any of its six power plays.

Lakeshore also had goals scored by JJ Percy and Brandon Ireland, who each put in one. In addition, Lakeshore received assists from Kyle Gagnon and Michael Long, who contributed one each.

The Flags managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Mooretown wound up below its season average of 16.0 penalty minutes per game.

The Flags were helped by Matt Brandon, who grabbed one goal. Brandon scored 2:53 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Lakeshore. Mark McLachlin provided the assist. Mooretown also got a goal from Jakob Reeves as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mooretown were Kyle Smith, who had one.

Lakeshore's Nick Seguin APM stopped 27 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Canadiens registered zero goals on one power play opportunities. Brandon Johnson made 26 saves for Mooretown on 29 shots.
