Blenheim holds on for 4-2 win against DresdenKen Houston Memorial Arena Fri, Dec 18, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dresden Kings tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Blenheim Blades held on for a 4-2 victory. A goal by Corbin Hagerman put Blenheim up 4-1 in the third period, but Dresden pulled to within two on Kyle Dawson's tally 12:17 into the third period. The Kings' power play was ineffective against the Blades' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Blenheim excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. The Blades' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Blenheim finished with 20 penalty minutes. The Blades were helped by Dylan Hathaway, who grabbed one goal. Hathaway scored 19:03 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Blenheim. Bryan Boersma provided the assist. Blenheim additionally got points from Nick Delyzer, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Blenheim also got a goal from Justin Delgado as well. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Matt Clark and Kellen Kaniecki, who contributed one each. Dresden's offense rang up 35 shots on Blenheim's net. The Kings were helped by Derek Daly, who had one goal. Daly scored 3:06 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Blenheim. Taylor Sisson picked up the assist. In addition, Dresden received assists from Derrick VanEvery, who had one. Eric Stewardson recorded 33 saves for the Blades. Blenheim registered one goal on three power play opportunities. The Blades ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Hagerman was ejected from the game. Dresden's Travis Moore stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. The Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. |
