The Essex 73s' Michael Vieira had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 11-1 win over the Wheatley Omstead Sharks. Vieira scored at 19:30 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Essex and again while on the power play 5:54 into the third to make the score 8-1 Essex.Essex pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 18 penalty minutes. The 73s excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Essex's offense rang up 31 shots on Wheatley's net. The 73s found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Essex has scored at the pace of 5.5 goals per game during the current campaign. Essex also got points from Brett Vorshuk, who also finished with one goal and one assist, William Stadder, who also grabbed two goals and two assists, Matthew Hebert, who also registered two goals and two assists, and Tyler Turner, who also had two goals and two assists. Essex also had goals scored by Tyler Scott and Max Viselli, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Essex were Adam Gaiarin, Kade McKibbin, Matt Zelko, Anthony Cristofaro, Eric Shaw, David Cook, and Alixe Saliba, who each chipped in one. The Omstead Sharks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Wheatley averages 3.7 goals per game. The Omstead Sharks' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in four goals to the 73s' power play unit. Wheatley could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game. The Omstead Sharks were led by Mitchell Prudence, who scored the team's only goal. Prudence scored 10:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Essex. Evan Mastronardi assisted on the tally. Essex's Trevor Wheaton stopped 18 shots out of the 19 that he faced. Adam Leboeuf rejected 20 shots on goal for Wheatley.
