Blenheim rips Mooretown, 5-0

The Blenheim Blades had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-0 win over the Mooretown Flags.

Blenheim was led by Brayden Hopkins, who registered one goal. Hopkins scored 3:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blenheim. Hunter Burk assisted on the tally.

The Blades put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Mooretown to score on any of its three power plays.

Blenheim also got points from Matt Clark, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Nick Delyzer, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Blenheim included Justin Delgado and Brayden Seliga, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Blenheim were Lucas Hickey, Kirk McKillop, Dustin Maines, and Drew Marlatt, who each chipped in one.

The Flags did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Mooretown puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game. The Flags' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Blenheim's power play unit.

Klinton Kenney rejected 21 shots on goal for the Blades. Blenheim ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. For the Blades, Burk was ejected from the game. Mooretown's starting goalie, Brandon Johnson, made 20 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Nolan Hakr, who stopped five shots. The Flags ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. Mooretown ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jeff Brown was ejected from the game.
