Huge game by Reeves boosts Mooretown over Amherstburg, 5-2

Jakob Reeves was all over the ice for the Mooretown Flags, as he tallied one goal and two assists in Mooretown's 5-2 win over the Amherstburg Integrity Admirals.

Reeves scored on the power play 16:25 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Mooretown. The Flags had gotten the advantage when Amherstburg's Kasey Basile was sent off for tripping. Colton Osborne provided the assist. Reeves dished an assist on Cameron Rannie's goal that made the score 3-1 Mooretown at 3:27 into the second period. He added another helper on Ryan Lyle's goal that made the score 5-2 Mooretown at 19:51 into the third period.

Mooretown excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Flags forced the Integrity Admirals goalie Daniel Tonietto to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Mooretown additionally got points from Lyle, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Mooretown included Parker Gilhuly and Alec Segers, who each put in one. In addition, Mooretown received assists from Matt Brandon, who had two and Joe DeSena and Trevor Bogaert, who contributed one each.

Amherstburg was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The Integrity Admirals had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. Amherstburg kept Mooretown's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Johnson made 30 saves on 32 shots.

The Integrity Admirals were led by Blake Rutckyj, who tallied one goal and one assist. Rutckyj scored 16:48 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Mooretown. Luke Gangnon assisted on the tally. Curtis Prymack also scored for Amherstburg. More assists for Amherstburg came via Chad Copeland, who had one.

The Flags incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Daniel Tonietto made 27 saves for Amherstburg on 31 shots. The Integrity Admirals ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Gangnon was ejected from the game.
