Huge game by Hopkins boosts Blenheim over Wheatley, 8-4Blenheim Memorial Arena Sun, Nov 15, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Behind a great game by Brayden Hopkins, who had one goal and four assists, the Blenheim Blades defeated the Wheatley Omstead Sharks, 8-4. Hopkins scored 19:44 into the second period to make the score 5-4 Blenheim. Drew Marlatt provided the assist. Hopkins dished an assist on Zack Horvath's goal that made the score 3-2 Blenheim at 10:43 into the second period. He then added assists on Bryan Boersma's goal at 15:31 into the second, on Marlatt's goal at 4:23 into the third, and on Marlatt's goal at 15:43 into the third.Blenheim forced Omstead Sharks' goaltenders to work all game long, ripping 41 shots and forcing 33 saves. Adam Leboeuf made 29 stops and Eric Morneau made four. The Blades bested their season scoring average. This season, Blenheim averages 4.1 goals per contest. Blenheim also got points from Boersma, who also had one goal and one assist, Horvath, who also racked up one goal and three assists, and Marlatt, who also tallied two goals and two assists. Hunter Burk also scored for Blenheim. In addition, Blenheim received assists from Justin Delgado and Kier Cumming, who each chipped in two. Wheatley was led by Nick Tavolieri-Essex, who registered one goal and two assists. Tavolieri-Essex scored 15:53 into the first period to make the score 2-2. Brett Bowman picked up the assist. Wheatley additionally got points from Justin Pinsonneault, who also had one goal and one assist and Lucas Raffoul, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Wheatley also got a goal from Andreas Gossmann as well. More assists for Wheatley came via Calyn Kir, who had one. Klinton Kenney recorded 21 saves for the Blades. Blenheim incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Omstead Sharks incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Wheatley ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mitch Lantin was ejected from the game.
