Wheatley hangs on, beats Lakeshore 4-2Atlas Centre Fri, Nov 13, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Brady Hillock scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Wheatley Omstead Sharks held off the challenges of the Lakeshore Canadiens in a tough 4-2 win. Hillock provided Wheatley with the game-winning tally when he scored 10:56 into the first period. Delaney MacDonald picked up the assist.Nick Tavolieri-Essex had two goals to lead the Omstead Sharks to victory. Tavolieri-Essex scored at 4:56 into the third period to make the score 2-0 Wheatley and again while 13:57 into the third to make the score 3-1 Wheatley. Wheatley's penalty kill excelled, as the Omstead Sharks gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays. Brett Bowman also scored for Wheatley. In addition, Wheatley received assists from Justin Pinsonneault, Kristian Filipovski, and Mitchell Prudence, who each chipped in one. Lakeshore's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Wheatley power plays. The Canadiens' offense operated below their season average. Lakeshore averages 4.5 goals per game. The Canadiens kept Wheatley's goalie busy throughout the game, and Eric Morneau made 49 saves on 51 shots. Lakeshore was helped by Sebastian Kanally, who tallied one goal and one assist. Kanally scored 19:14 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Wheatley. Steven Sartor assisted on the tally. Lakeshore also got points from Sartor, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Lakeshore were JJ Percy and Mejoe Gasparovic, who contributed one each. The Omstead Sharks incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. The Canadiens' Brendan Shuck stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Lakeshore incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
