Dawson lifts Dresden over Blenheim, 6-2

The Dresden Kings relied on the scoring touch of Kyle Dawson, who netted two goals, to beat the Blenheim Blades, 6-2.

Dawson scored at 11:17 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while on the power play 17:24 into the second to make the score 2-2.

Blenheim was unable to stop Dresden from sending pucks towards the net, and the Kings eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Dresden found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, the Kings average 3.2 goals per contest.

Dresden additionally got points from Kevin Ritzer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Macks Holmes, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Dresden also had goals scored by Derrick VanEvery and Isaac McLean, who scored one goal each. In addition, Dresden received assists from Brady Hogg, Alex Hall, Carter Smith, Dayne Davis, and Derek Shaw, who contributed one each.

The Blades did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Blenheim averages 4.3 goals per game.

The Blades were helped by Kellen Kaniecki, who registered one goal. Kaniecki scored 7:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Blenheim. Nolan VandenBoorn picked up the assist. Blenheim also got points from VandenBoorn, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Blenheim came via Matt Clark, Kirk McKillop, and Bryce Broad, who each chipped in one.

Dresden's Travis Moore stopped 22 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Kings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Klinton Kenney rejected 31 shots on goal for Blenheim. The Blades incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.
