Integrity Amherstburg outlasts Dresden, 5-3

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Integrity Amherstburg Admirals escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Dresden Kings.

Integrity Amherstburg gained the winning advantage on a goal by Lucas Bersuk 10:46 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.

The Admirals got the win behind a great game by Ryan Alexander, who had two goals and one assist. Alexander scored the first of his two goals at 3:14 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mitchel Holden provided the assist. Alexander's next tally made the score 5-3 Integrity Amherstburg with 2:59 left in the third period. Bersuk picked up the assist.

Integrity Amherstburg put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Dresden to score on any of its four power plays. The Kings were unable to stop the Admirals from sending pucks towards the net, and Integrity Amherstburg eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Integrity Amherstburg also got points from Caleb Paquette, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Bersuk, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Integrity Amherstburg also got a goal from Jordan Luciw as well. Other players who recorded assists for Integrity Amherstburg were Michael Hatch, Blake Rutckyj, and Spencer McConville, who contributed one each.

Dresden managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Kings ended up below its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game.

Dresden was helped by Derrick VanEvery, who registered one goal. VanEvery scored 6:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dresden. Others who scored for Dresden included Dillon Liberty and Kevin Ritzer, who each put in one. In addition, Dresden received assists from Kyle Dawson, Derek Shaw, and Macks Holmes, who each chipped in one.

Connor Meyerink made 18 saves for the Admirals on 21 shots. Integrity Amherstburg incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Kings' Moore Travis stopped 29 shots out of the 34 that he faced.
