Prudence lifts Wheatley over Dresden, 5-1Ken Houston Memorial Arena Fri, Oct 09, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Mitchell Prudence was all over the ice for the Wheatley Omstead Sharks, as he tallied two goals in Wheatley's 5-1 win over the Dresden Kings. Prudence's tallies came on the power play at 14:29 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and on the power play 14:38 into the second to make the score 2-1 Wheatley.Dresden was stymied by the Omstead Sharks' netminder Eric Morneau, who stopped 41 shots during the victory. Morneau certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 5.68 entering the contest. Wheatley's goal total was higher than its season average. The Omstead Sharks average 2.9 goals per game. Wheatley also got points from Brett Bowman, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Andreas Gossmann, who also registered one goal and one assist. Calyn Kir also scored for Wheatley. Other players who recorded assists for Wheatley were Luc Ribble, Delaney MacDonald, Brian Johnson, and Kristian Brockelbank, who each chipped in one. The Kings' offense operated below their season average. Dresden averages 3.1 goals per game. Wheatley was unable to stop the Kings from sending pucks towards the net, and Dresden eventually piled up 42 shots on goal. The Kings were forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as they racked up 38 penalty minutes. Dresden was led by John Montgomery, who scored the team's only goal. Montgomery scored 5:05 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dresden. The Omstead Sharks incurred 38 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Jake Wilkins rejected 19 shots on goal for the Kings. Dresden registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
