Alvinston outlasts Lakeshore, 5-3Atlas Centre Fri, Oct 02, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Alvinston Flyers escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Lakeshore Canadiens. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Brady Swan's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Alvinston was boosted by Matt Boere, who turned in a shutout with 36 saves. Boere certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 4.6 entering the contest. The Flyers got the win with help from a great game by Kole Keating, who had two goals and one assist. Keating scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:39 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Alvinston had taken the advantage when Lakeshore's Austin Jennings got sent off for cross checking. Karsten Berg picked up the assist. Keating's next tally on the power play made the score 5-3 Alvinston with 59 seconds left in the third period. Carter Campbell assisted on the tally. The Flyers' offense rang up 38 shots on the Canadiens' net. Alvinston capitalized on Lakeshore's penalties, netting two goals while skating with a man advantage. Alvinston additionally got points from Swan, who also had one goal and one assist and Devon Brown, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Jeremy VanDeven also scored for Alvinston. In addition, Alvinston received assists from Cole Harris and Mark McNally, who each chipped in one. The Canadiens' offense rang up 58 shots on the Flyers' net. Lakeshore was helped by Brenden Crundwell, who finished with one goal. Crundwell scored on the power play 8:19 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Lakeshore. The Canadiens had gained a power play chance when Keating was whistled for slashing. JJ Percy provided the assist. Lakeshore also had goals scored by Zack Bedard and Jack Bartlett, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Lakeshore were Kyle Gagnon and Connor Goodchild, who contributed one each. Alvinston incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Lakeshore's Brendan Shuck stopped 33 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Canadiens incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
