Copeland's big game bests Dresden in 8-5 Integrity Amherstburg win

Behind a great game by Chad Copeland, who had two goals and one assist, the Integrity Amherstburg Admirals defeated the Dresden Kings, 8-5.

Copeland scored at 12:30 into the first period to make the score 4-0 Integrity Amherstburg and again while 14:55 into the second to make the score 6-1 Integrity Amherstburg.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 19:35 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts.

Integrity Amherstburg's penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled 10 minors and one major for 45 minutes in penalty time. The Admirals surpassed its season average of 20.0 penalty minutes per game. Integrity Amherstburg forced Dresden's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, launching 57 shots and forcing 49 saves. Joel Sowinski made 27 stops and Jake Wilkins made 22. Team could not crack the Kings' penalty kill and was held to two power play goals while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage.

Integrity Amherstburg additionally got points from Dylan Muzzatti, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Broden Meloche, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Spencer McConville, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Integrity Amherstburg also had goals scored by Caleb Paquette, Jordan Luciw, and Blake Rutckyj, who each put in one. In addition, Integrity Amherstburg received assists from Marshal Laing, who had two, Luke Gangnon, who had three, and Blaine Bechard, Dean Patterson, Ryan Holzel, and Kasey Basile, who each chipped in one.

Dresden was often in penalty trouble, totaling 12 minors and two majors for 54 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 33.0 minutes per game the Kings had been spending in the box. Dresden kept the Admirals' goalie busy throughout the game, and Daniel Tonietto made 27 saves on 32 shots.

The Kings were helped by Macks Holmes, who registered two goals and one assist. Holmes scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:05 into the second period to make the score 5-1 Integrity Amherstburg. Dresden had gotten the advantage when Integrity Amherstburg's Gangnon was sent off for roughing. Derrick VanEvery provided the assist. Holmes' next tally on the power play made the score 8-3 Integrity Amherstburg with 8:46 left in the third period. Steven Funk picked up the assist. Dresden also got points from Taylor Sisson, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Dresden also got a goal from Kyle Dawson as well. More assists for Dresden came via Dillon Liberty, who had two.

For the Admirals, Rutckyj and Cody Leeming were ejected from the contest. The Kings registered two goals on five power play opportunities. Team's Kevin Ritzer and VanEvery were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
