Dresden outlasts Wallaceburg, 4-3Wallaceburg Memorial Arena Wed, Sep 16, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dresden Kings and the Wallaceburg Lakers were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Dresden made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-3. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Derrick VanEvery's goal in the second period proved to be the difference maker. Will Tetzlaff had two goals to lead the Kings to victory. Tetzlaff scored at 8:57 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Dresden and again while 6:50 into the second to make the score 3-3. Wallaceburg's power play was ineffective against Dresden's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. The Kings were often in penalty trouble, totaling 12 minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. Dresden surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Dresden also got points from VanEvery, who also registered one goal and one assist. Dillon Liberty also scored for Dresden. In addition, Dresden received assists from Kevin Ritzer, who had one and Derek Shaw, who had two. The Lakers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and two majors for 38 minutes in penalty time.
