Essex rolls over Mooretown, 5-1

The Mooretown Flags had trouble finding ways to stop the Essex 73s, which beat Flags, 5-1.

Essex was sparked by Matthew Hebert, who had one goal. Hebert scored 8:46 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Essex. Matthew Rosati assisted on the tally.

The 73s managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Essex wound up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. Mooretown was unable to stop the 73s from sending pucks towards the net, and Essex eventually piled up 54 shots on goal.

Essex additionally got points from William Stadder, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Tyler Scott also scored for Essex. In addition, Essex received assists from Kade McKibbon, who had three and Phil Janikowski, Mark MacPherson, and Tyler Turner, who each chipped in one.

The Flags were led by Brent Blais, who scored the team's only goal. Blais scored 6:48 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Landon Wilson picked up the assist.

Trevor Wheaton recorded 24 saves for the 73s. Essex registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Brandon Johnson made 49 saves for Mooretown on 54 shots. The Flags incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
