Mooretown downs Wallaceburg, 3-1

Alec Segers racked up one point to lead the Mooretown Flags to a 3-1 victory over the Wallaceburg Lakers.

Wallaceburg was unable to stop Mooretown from sending pucks towards the net, and the Flags eventually piled up 47 shots on goal.

Mooretown also got points from Parker Gilhuly, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Mooretown also got a goal from Nolan Riley as well. Other players who recorded assists for Mooretown were Christian Lyle, Brent Blais, Matt Brandon, Colin Osler, and Frankie White, who contributed one each.

The Lakers' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Mooretown power plays. Wallaceburg's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Lakers finished with 30 penalty minutes.

Wallaceburg was led by Trevor Waller, who scored the team's only goal. Waller scored on the power play 5:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wallaceburg. The Lakers had gotten the advantage when Mooretown's Ryan Lyle was sent off for tripping. Brett Farr picked up the assist.

The Flags' Brandon Johnson stopped 24 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Mooretown incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Derion Ducedre rejected 44 shots on goal for Wallaceburg. The Lakers registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
