M1 Lebanon Valley College's Hovanec deadly on offense in 8-3 win against M1 Drexel University

Behind a great game by Bryan Hovanec, who had four goals, the M1 Lebanon Valley College Flying Dutchmen defeated the M1 Drexel University Dragons, 8-3.

Hovanec's first goal came 10:51 into the first period. He then added goals at 17:24 into the first, at 7:43 into the second, and at 19:58 into the second.

M1 Drexel University's power play was ineffective against M1 Lebanon Valley College's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Flying Dutchmen stifled the Dragons' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. M1 Lebanon Valley College outdid its season average for goals scored. The Flying Dutchmen have scored at the pace of 5.3 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. M1 Lebanon Valley College could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. By firing 40 shots on goal, the Flying Dutchmen exceeded the 18.8 shots they average per game this year.

Others who scored for M1 Lebanon Valley College included Andy Thurby, who had two and Cody Pessig and Ryan Maraldo, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for M1 Lebanon Valley College were Bradley Nolan, Paul Hefferin, Brennan Thompson, and Russell Armbruster, who each chipped in one and Joey LaBonte, Michael Straub, and Justin Boyd, who contributed two each.

Christopher Rodrigue provided the assist. M1 Drexel University also got points from Adam Ferreira, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Mike Churchvara also scored for M1 Drexel University. In addition, M1 Drexel University received assists from Carson Newton, who had two.

M1 Lebanon Valley College's Brenden Manquen stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Flying Dutchmen registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. M1 Drexel University's starting goalie, Zachary Kantner, made 21 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Dillon Gravenstine, who stopped 11 shots. The Dragons incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
