Dunnville falls to Grimsby after surprising comebackPeach King Arena Sun, Jan 31, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats could not hold down the Grimsby Peach Kings, and Peach Kings erased a two-goal deficit en route to a 3-2 win. Grimsby never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Peach Kings trailed 2-0 after a goal by Dunnville's Josh Meeuwse at 5:30 in the second period. Grimsby tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by Dakota Kingston at 7:33 in the third period. The Peach Kings got the game winner at 18:27 in the third period on a goal by Kingston. Grimsby was led by Garnet McComber, who tallied one goal and one assist. The Peach Kings' offense rang up 37 shots on the Jr. Mudcats' net. Grimsby also got a goal from Brennan Smith as well. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Trevor McEneny, Jeromy Hopkins, Nicholas Purves, and Brady Cranwell, who each chipped in one. Dunnville's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Grimsby power plays. The Jr. Mudcats were helped by Steven Czepek, who grabbed one goal. Czepek scored on the power play 2:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Dunnville. A slashing penalty on Kingston had put Dunnville on the power play. Travis Sheldrake provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Mitch Holodniuk, Luke Rowe, and Devin Lampert, who contributed one each. Jeremy Currie rejected 22 shots on goal for Grimsby. The Peach Kings incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Jr. Mudcats' Brennan Head stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. Dunnville incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
