Grimsby rolls over Simcoe, 6-1Talbot Gardens Sun, Jan 17, 2016 Story by Narrative Science.
The Grimsby Peach Kings had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-1 win over the Simcoe Storm. Grimsby was led by Brady Cranwell, who registered one goal. Cranwell scored on the power play 18:10 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Grimsby. A cross checking penalty on Kent Wardell had put the Peach Kings on the power play. Brennan Smith assisted on the tally. Grimsby forced Simcoe goalie Nathen McKinnon to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. Grimsby additionally got points from Carson Macrae, who also tallied two goals and one assist to lead the team in points and Dakota Kingston, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Grimsby included Marcus Brydon and Garnet McComber, who each put in one. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Dillon Cipretti, Aidan Board, Joshua Celebre, Kyle Kozielski, Matthew Jambrosich, and Nicholas Purves, who each chipped in one. The Storm were led by Tyson Mike, who scored the team's only goal. Mike scored 4:52 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Grimsby. Zak Culbert provided the assist. The Peach Kings' Marcus Hlywka stopped 16 shots out of the 17 that he faced. Grimsby incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Nathen McKinnon made 41 saves for Simcoe on 47 shots. The Storm incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
