Currie leads Grimsby to shutout victory over HagersvilleHagersville Sat, Dec 12, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
Jeremy Currie made 28 saves to complete the shutout and led the Grimsby Peach Kings to a 3-0 win against the Hagersville Hawks. Grimsby was paced by Brennan Smith, who finished with one goal and one assist. Smith scored on the power play 6:14 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby. The Peach Kings had taken the advantage when Hagersville's Derek Friesen got sent off for tripping. Aiden McCreadie picked up the assist. Grimsby put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Hawks to score on any of their four power plays. The Peach Kings' defense was surprisingly good. Grimsby averages 2.8 goals allowed per game. The Peach Kings forced Hagersville goalie Stephen Tierney to work between the pipes, taking 46 shots. Grimsby additionally got points from Matthew Jambrosich, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Grimsby also got a goal from Jeromy Hopkins as well. In addition, Grimsby received assists from Dillon Cipretti and Garnet McComber, who each chipped in one. The Hawks did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Hagersville averages 4.2 goals per game. The Hawks could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game. Grimsby incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Tierney recorded 43 saves for Hagersville.
