Niagara beats Dunnville 4-3 after comeback scare

The Dunnville Jr. Mudcats tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Niagara Riverhawks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Niagara made the score 4-1 on a goal by Patrick Norris at 11:10 in the third period, and Dunnville got as close as 4-3 when Damien Lalonde scored 17:45 into the third period.

Danny Gallagher was all over the ice for the Riverhawks, as he tallied one goal and two assists in the win. Gallagher scored 3:12 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Niagara. Norris picked up the assist.

Niagara could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Niagara also got points from Norris, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Niagara included Dylan Leifso and Jamie Bennett, who each put in one. In addition, Niagara received assists from Dante Zawadzki, who had two and Kyle Hardy and Dawson Ethier, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Mudcats stifled the Riverhawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Dunnville forced Niagara goalie Sebastian Iannone to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

The Jr. Mudcats were helped by Luke Rowe, who racked up one goal. Rowe scored 12:35 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Niagara. Darcy Muller assisted on the tally. Matt Dolan also scored for Dunnville. Other players who recorded assists for Dunnville were Mitch Holodniuk, Cody LeVasseur, and Chad Springer, who each chipped in one.

Iannone rejected 35 shots on goal for the Riverhawks. Niagara registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. Jesse Schoeman made 22 saves for Dunnville on 26 shots. The Jr. Mudcats incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
