Dundas rips Dunnville, 5-2

The Dundas Blues had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-2 win over the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats.

Mitch Moriarity was all over the ice for Dundas, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Moriarity scored the first of his two goals at 15:56 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Dundas. Bryce Robertson picked up the assist. Moriarity's next tally made the score 5-2 Dundas with 15:47 left in the third period. The Blues had gotten the advantage when Dunnville's Dane Koabel was sent off for cross checking. Jaden Simoneau assisted on the tally.

Dundas forced Jr. Mudcats' netminders to work between the pipes, ripping 40 shots and forcing 35 saves. Jackson Roberts made 21 stops and Brennan Head made 14. The Blues' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Dundas finished with 24 penalty minutes. The Blues had trouble converting on the power play advantage, managing just two goals on nine chances.

Dundas additionally got points from Chris Cudek, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Dundas included Justin Homer and Liam Buckley, who each put in one. More assists for Dundas came via Dan Pelosini, who had one and Domenic Procopio, who had two.

The Jr. Mudcats were held below their usual level of production. Dunnville puts an average of 4.2 pucks into the net per game. The Jr. Mudcats could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 28 minutes in penalties during the game.

Dunnville was helped by Chad Springer, who tallied one goal. Springer scored on the power play 9:21 into the second period to make the score 2-2. The Jr. Mudcats had taken the advantage when Dundas' Cam Docherty got sent off for head contact. Mitch Holodniuk picked up the assist. Dunnville also got points from Holodniuk, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Damien Lalonde and Luke Rowe, who each chipped in one.

Andrew Albano recorded 27 saves for the Blues. Dunnville registered two goals on seven power play opportunities. For the Jr. Mudcats, Aaron Krajcir was ejected from the game.
