Simcoe falls apart in second, loses to Hagersville, 7-0

The Hagersville Hawks used a three-goal second period to put away the Simcoe Storm, 7-0.

Hagersville was boosted by Ryan Guy, who turned in a shutout with 28 saves. Guy managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.29 prior to the game.

The Hawks got the win thanks to a great game by Dan Mederios, who had one goal and two assists. Mederios scored 14:12 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Hagersville. Travis Bell picked up the assist.

Hagersville forced Simcoe goalie Nathen McKinnon to work between the pipes, taking 58 shots. The Hawks' goal total was higher than their season average. Hagersville averages 4.2 goals per game. The defensemen of the Hawks were also effective in the Storm's zone, and came away with two goals.

Hagersville additionally got points from Bell, who also had one goal and one assist, Cole Dezainne, who also registered one goal and one assist, Austin Cairns, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Shaun General, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Derek Friesen, who also tallied one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, and MIchael Arch, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Hagersville received assists from Brayden Hill, who had one.

Hagersville incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors. Nathen McKinnon made 51 saves for Simcoe on 58 shots. The Storm incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and had no power play opportunities.
