Port Dover boosted by Caluori's play in net, beats Simcoe 3-1

The Port Dover Sailors relied on the sparkling performance of Mike Caluori in net to grab a 3-1 win against the Simcoe Storm.

Port Dover's penalty kill excelled, as the Sailors gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

Port Dover was led by Zac Mihalis, who had one goal. Mihalis scored on the power play 9:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Dover. The Sailors had taken the advantage when Simcoe's Nathen McKinnon got sent off for holding. Braden Roberts provided the assist.

Port Dover racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The Sailors surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Port Dover stifled the Storm's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Port Dover also got points from Roberts, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Jordan Lenko also scored for Port Dover. In addition, Port Dover received assists from Michael Almas and Michael Boateng, who each chipped in one.

Simcoe kept the Sailors' goalie busy throughout the game, and Caluori made 31 saves on 32 shots. The Storm struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 23 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays.

Simcoe was led by Tyson Mike, who scored the team's only goal. Mike scored 4:13 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Simcoe.

Port Dover ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Sam Restivo was ejected from the game. Nate Prusky rejected 27 shots on goal for the Storm. For Simcoe, Riley Wilson was ejected from the game.
