Hagersville takes care of Dunnville early, wins 6-3Dunnville Memorial Arena Fri, Oct 23, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
A four-goal first period deficit cost the Dunnville Jr. Mudcats, which could not recover and fell to the Hagersville Hawks, 6-3. Hagersville got the win behind a great game by MIchael Arch, who had two goals and one assist. Arch scored the first of his two goals at 12:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Hagersville. Dan Mederios provided the assist. Arch's next tally made the score 6-3 Hagersville with 9:59 left in the third period. Derek Friesen assisted on the tally. The Hawks forced Jr. Mudcats' netminders to work between the pipes, launching 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. Jackson Roberts made seven stops and Brennan Head made 23. Hagersville could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 34 minutes in penalties during the game. Hagersville additionally got points from Jake Reichheld, who also registered one goal and one assist, Domenic Evangelista, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Friesen, who also had one goal and two assists. Hagersville also got a goal from Matt Lemassuir as well. Other players who recorded assists for Hagersville were Jordy Land, Mitch Green, and Shaun General, who each chipped in one. Dunnville stifled the Hawks' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Mudcats were led by Luke Rowe, who grabbed two goals. Rowe scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 27 seconds into the second period to make the score 4-1 Hagersville. Chad Springer picked up the assist. Rowe's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Hagersville with 15:12 left in the second period. Dunnville had gotten the advantage when Hagersville's Friesen was sent off for boarding. Mitch Holodniuk assisted on the tally. Damien Lalonde also scored for Dunnville. In addition, Dunnville received assists from Josh Meeuwse and Darcy Muller, who contributed one each. Ryan Guy made 25 saves for the Hawks on 28 shots. Hagersville registered zero goals on seven power play opportunities. The Jr. Mudcats incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
