Glanbrook wins tough contest against Niagara, 5-3Glanbrook Arena Wed, Oct 14, 2015 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Glanbrook Rangers escaped with a 5-3 victory over the Niagara Riverhawks. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Michael Fortino at 8:34 of the third period. Glanbrook was led by Fortino, who finished with one goal. The Rangers excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Niagara was unable to stop Glanbrook from sending pucks towards the net, and the Rangers eventually piled up 37 shots on goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Glanbrook additionally got points from Nicholas Sherwood, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Glanbrook also had goals scored by Chris Haigh, Josh Pace, and Jeff May, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Glanbrook were Ryan Laufman and Josh Anger, who each chipped in one and Brandon Kolaski and Garnet Batrynchuk, who contributed two each. The Riverhawks were helped by Richard Deschatelets, who registered one goal. Deschatelets scored 6:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Niagara. Lucas Marcon provided the assist. Niagara also got points from Danny Ledwez, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Niagara also got a goal from Jamie Bennett as well. In addition, Niagara received assists from Scott Charanduk, Danny Gallagher, Andrew Somerville, and Robert Shaw, who each chipped in one. Glanbrook's Jay Payton stopped 21 shots out of the 24 that he faced. The Rangers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Scott Charanduk made 32 saves for Niagara on 37 shots. The Riverhawks incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
