Grimsby survives Niagara comeback, wins 3-2

The Grimsby Peach Kings survived a determined comeback attempt by the Niagara Riverhawks on the way to a 3-2 win.

Grimsby made the score 2-0 on a goal by Curtis Conrad at 11:33 in the first period, and Niagara got as close as 2-1 when Alex Cipriano scored 1:43 into the third period.

Marcus Brydon was all over the ice for the Peach Kings, as he registered two goals in the win. Brydon scored at 10:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Grimsby and again while 9:12 into the third to make the score 3-2 Grimsby.

Grimsby excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Peach Kings kept the Riverhawks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Sebastian Iannone made 42 saves on 45 shots.

In addition, Grimsby received assists from Jeromy Hopkins, Addison DeTullio, Joshua Kozielski, Nicholas Purves, Daniel Scotland, and James Thorpe, who contributed one each.

Brandon McLean also scored for Niagara. Other players who recorded assists for Niagara were Danny Gallagher, who had one.

Grimsby's Marcus Hlywka stopped 20 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Peach Kings incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Niagara incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
